We combine deep financial expertise with an owner’s mindset to help you make better decisions and move them forward
1
Initial Conversation
We begin by listening.
The first conversation is designed to understand what you have built, the decisions in front of you and where you may need greater clarity or support. We discuss your business, family, existing advisors and financial priorities without assuming that everything needs to change.
Outcome: A clear understanding of the issue we should examine first.
What we seek to understand
What is most important to you now
Which decisions have been difficult to resolve
How your business & personal finances interact
What is already working well
Where greater coordination may be valuable
2
Focused Priority Review
Rather than beginning with a broad financial-planning exercise, we concentrate on one meaningful priority.
We request only information necessary to evaluate that issue in the context of your broader financial life and prepare a focused review of the available considerations, tradeoffs and possible next steps. The objective is to give you a direct view into how Whittier Green approaches complex situations.
Outcome: A focused assessment of the issue, key considerations and a clearer basis for determining fit.
Examples may include
Owner compensation and distributions
Business and personal liquidity
Concentrated investments
Retirement readiness
A major purchase or financing decision
Portfolio structure and investment risk
3
Engagement and Onboarding
When we mutually determine that the relationship makes sense, we formalize the engagement and establish the foundation for the work ahead.
You receive a clear explanation of the services, fees, responsibilities and documents governing the relationship. We then establish secure systems for information sharing and agree on the priorities for the first 90 days.
Outcome: A clearly defined relationship and organized plan for moving forward.
What happens at this stage:
Advisory agreement and required disclosures
Secure document-sharing access
Initial onboarding and document checklist
Confirmation of responsibilities and timelines
Agreement on the first set of priorities
4
Building the Full Financial Picture
Once engaged, we develop an organized view of your complete financial life.
This includes more than investment accounts. We examine the relationships among your business interests, personal balance sheet, cash flow, taxes, estate structure, insurance, real estate and long-term goals. Where specialized expertise is required, we work alongside your existing professionals or help you identify the appropriate outside resources.
Outcome: A single, coherent view of the facts, assumptions, risks and decisions affecting your financial life.
Areas we may review:
Household balance sheet and cash flow
Business ownership and related entities
Investment and retirement accounts
Real estate and debt
Tax considerations and planning opportunities
Estate documents and beneficiary structure
Insurance and risk exposures
5
Recommendations and Implementation
Analysis only creates value when it leads to action. We organize recommendations by priority, explain the reasoning behind them and establish clear responsibilities and timelines. Where investment management is involved, we develop the proposed portfolio, investment policy and account-transition plan before implementation. Planning recommendations are implemented only with your agreement. Investment transactions are executed within the authority established in the advisory agreement and Investment Policy Statement.
Outcome: Decisions translated into an executable plan.
What you can expect
Prioritized recommendations
Clear explanation of alternatives and tradeoffs
Investment proposal and policy, where applicable
90-day implementation roadmap
Coordination with outside professionals
Tracking of decisions, responsibilities and completion
6
